Game Save Finder
A Windows app that finds where every PC game keeps its saves, and backs them up to your own Google Drive in one click.
- 22,000+ games in the save-location database
- 1 click backup and restore, with undo
- End to end tests against a fake Windows profile and Google server
The problem
Every PC game hides its saves somewhere different: Documents, AppData, the Steam folder, the install folder. Moving to a new PC or reinstalling Windows often means losing hundreds of hours of progress.
What we built
A desktop app that looks up each installed game in a database of more than 22,000 titles, checks the Steam library and Steam Cloud, and shows exactly which folders hold the saves.
- One-click backup to the user’s own Google Drive (OAuth 2.0 with PKCE, resumable uploads)
- Restore with a safety copy first, and an undo button
- Add your own games and folders for anything the database doesn’t know
- Auto-updates from GitHub releases
Result
Version 0.1.4 for Windows, with Google Drive backup, restore and auto-updates working end to end. A Playwright end-to-end suite runs the real app against a fake Windows profile and a fake Google server on every change.
